During his time in the Marines, McQueen saved the lives of five men in
the Arctic after a transport ship struck a sandbank during a training
exercise. Due to this dramatic event, he was greatly rewarded by
becoming part of the honour guard protecting Harry S Truman's yacht.

McQueen made his debut on Broadway in 1955, by replacing Ben Gazzara in the play A Hatful of Rain.

McQueen's only Academy Award nomination came from the 1966 film The Sand Pebbles.

McQueen is voted one of the Greatest Movie Stars of all time by Entertainment Weekly

Motor Company, The Gap, Absolut, Levis, Ballantines, TAG Heuer, and
many others.

Ford's 2008 Bullitt Mustang is an homage to one of McQueen's biggest starring roles.

McQueen was the highest paid movie star of his time
